The Health Quality Council of Saskatchewan now hosts the QIC School...an intense year-long course that will transform your approach to quality improvement. QIC School is about more than knowledge, it's about profound knowledge. What's the difference? It's the difference between information and understanding. Between knowing the answers...and knowing the questions to ask.

The Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) is dedicated to providing national leadership in building and advancing a safer Canadian health system. As part of its overall mission, CPSI is pleased to announce its second annual Grants Competition for research and Demonstration projects.
The funding will be divided between two streams: Applied Health Services Research focusing on identifying new knowledge on the magnitude, scope and determinants of adverse events in Canadian jurisdictions.
Demonstration Projects focusing on identifying, implementing and evaluating leading practices and/or tools that have been proven to improve patient safety, or focusing on assessing the effectiveness of defined practices and/or tools in reducing avoidable adverse events. Practices and/or tools of interest to CPSI are those that may exist in other Canadian or international jurisdictions but are not broadly implemented in Canada.
Specific theme areas under each stream are defined in the full Grants Competition announcement on the CPSI website. Please visit www.patientsafetyinstitute.ca for more information.

Leading practices are exemplary initiatives carried out by health organizations. CCHSA surveyors, who are peer reviewers, identify creative leading practices that are tied to a standard and that other organizations can emulate.
This year, CCHSA’s report highlights more than 185 leading practices from across the country. These innovations are not necessarily one of a kind and may be in place in other health care organizations; however, they are examples of outstanding achievement and are notable for what they contribute to the field. The IPAC Victoria Regional Group, in conjunction with the Pacific Region of the National Quality Institute (NQI), is proud to present: Walking the Talk: Measuring Organizational Quality in the Public Sector - Thursday April 3, 2007, Ambrosia Catering and Event Centre, 638 Fisgard Street.
12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Workshop Description
We have all heard about the importance of improving quality. However, what is it and how can it be measured in an organizational context? The concept of quality can apply to a wide variety of things ranging from client service, to operational efficiency, to achieving organizational goals and everything in between.
IPAC Victoria, in conjunction with the NQI, is proud to offer an opportunity for public sector professionals to learn more about quality and how it can be integrated in to their organizations. Our panel, consisting of representatives from all levels of government and the non-profit sector, will share their ideas on quality as well as their experiences implementing quality systems in their organizations.
